3 min read
Reaching out into the Atlantic near La Trinité, the Caravelle peninsula is home to a renowned nature reserve of mangroves, cliffs and wild coves.
A protected nature reserve
Managed within the Regional Nature Park, the Caravelle reserve protects a mosaic of habitats: dry forest, mangrove and rugged coastline, a refuge for varied wildlife.
Château Dubuc and the lighthouse
The remains of the Dubuc plantation and the Caravelle lighthouse tell the story of the island's sugar history while offering superb panoramas over the ocean.
The hiking trail
A signposted loop of about two hours winds between the viewpoints. A hat, water and closed shoes are recommended.
